Tumbling blocks and IKEA trip

Hello!

My tumbling blocks quilt top is finally finished! I kept making it larger and larger so it ended up being 75inches by 92 inches! I think it looks pretty good in the guest room, although my mom has hinted that this one should live at her house...

I think the black borders really make it pop.

Last week Bart was sick so I decided I needed to get out of the house and away from the germs. I somehow ended up at IKEA and a bunch of new orginization tools somehow made their way into my cart... I don't know how these things happen!

Three sets of floating shelves and some great glass jars, as well as some buckets to store all my tools!

A dry erase board to keep track of all my projects!

And a huge vase to keep my scraps that will someday work their way into another quilt!

All in all I would say it was a good week!

Tumbling Blocks

Hello! This week I have been working on my Tumbling Blocks:

They are coming along pretty well although I need to decide soon how large I want this quilt as I have pretty much filled up my design wall. I kind of want to make my design wall larger but then it will cover my shoe closet...

so hard to pick... the shoes VS the design wall... I am pretty sure the design wall will win this one...

My next step for this quilt will be to buy the black I want for the borders and get this thing put together! That will have to wait for next week as we are hosting a superbowl party tomorrow so I will have no time for sewing!

2010 in review

2010 was a good year for me. I left a job that was driving me slowly insane, and I learned to quilt! Here is a collection of photos of my 2010 projects:

My first quilt: A baby quilt for a friend

A diaper bag and changing pad for another friend:

A lap quilt for my mom for Christmas:

A queen size quilt for my sister:

Two twin quilts for my boyfriends parents for christmas:

A table runner:

Another baby quilt that I have hanging in my sewing room:

I also made three Amy Butler quilts, but I can't find my pictures of them, so I will have to post those later.

New Year- New Blog

Hello!

I have decided that along with the new year I need a blog to document my quilting adventures. I am currently unemployed as the name of my blog will tell you but hopefully that will change in 2011! I have taken my time since I left my job to learn to quilt and have loved every minute of it! I hadn't done anything creative for years so as soon as I started I couldn't stop!

When my boyfriend moved into my apartment a year and a half ago I gave him one of the spare bedrooms as his "Man Cave" but when I decided quilting was going to become a big part of my life I had to reclaim that space and turn it into the Quilting Room!

Before:

And After!

I find it funny to look at this picture now as this was taken the day I finished taking over the man cave, but now (6 months later) it is very full of fabric and projects! I will post a more recent picture soon.

Happy New Year!
